BACKGROUND

Architecture by Cedar was established on 12th June 2012 with the aim to provide architectural and construction related services in Kenya and the East African region. 


Architecture by Cedar’s affairs are largely managed by the directors of the company who meet regularly to review and assess the performance of the company.


OUR CORE PILLARS

Architectural Consultancy: Full scope of architectural consultancy services to a discerning client looking for quality and professional services. The full scope includes architectural design and collaboration with other consultants in the industry i.e engineers and quantity surveyors. 

Project Management: Management of building contracts and construction supervision where clients have need for supervisory oversight of their projects. 

Masterplanning: Master planning services which entails the development framework based on which the entire project proceeds and guides project stakeholders in decision making. It includes service and infrastructure planning and layouts, plot subdivision layout with interpretation of site constraints and attention to local authority regulations

Advisory Services: Technical advice related to Architectural design, construction supervision and general contract management for different project types. This entails, architect of record (to review drawings and advise on their competence), independent consultant for specific projects e.g gated communities and development of gated community development guidelines 


VISION

Our vision is: 

  • To be a well renowned Architectural practice in the region.

  • To be involved in landmark regional projects

  • To be the go-to Architecture firm for discerning developers keen on high quality architecture and professional service

  • To have at least 2 mega (Kshs. 500 M and above) projects every year

  • To have a well structured organisation with a fully functioning studio and all relevant support departments including finance, marketing, R&A, sales etc

Our mission is:

To offer responsive architectural design solutions to a discerning (high value) client, with a dedicated and collaborative approach to the process from inception to execution focusing on high quality/standards and cost

At Architecture by Cedar, the Core Values define who we are, how we work, what we believe in and what we stand for. They are at the heart of our operation and behaviour. The following are our Core Values;

ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

Architecture by Cedar, being an architectural firm, is largely organized into two main departments i.e Production and Operations, which report to the CEO. All other functions and designations fall under either of the above departments.


COMPANY POLICY

Workplace Conduct and Professionalism:

  • All our employees are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times, adhering to the highest standards of ethics and integrity.

  • Respect for colleagues, clients, and stakeholders is paramount. Discrimination, harassment, or any form of disrespectful behavior is not tolerated.

  • Employees shall at all times dress in a manner to depict professionalism as shall be guided by the company’s code of conduct

Confidentiality and Data Security:

  • Employees must maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive company information, client details, and proprietary data.

  • Breach of any kind of confidentiality will be met with disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Project Management and Accountability:

  • Each project team member is responsible for meeting project deadlines, adhering to client specifications, and maintaining the highest quality standards.

  • Effective communication within project teams is essential for project success.

  • Accountability for individual tasks and contributions is expected from every team member.

Health and Safety:

  • The company is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all employees.

  • Employees must adhere to all health and safety protocols, including those specific to construction sites or fieldwork.

  • Reporting of any hazards, incidents, or accidents is mandatory for the well-being of all employees

  • Employees shall not engage in activities that endanger their health or that of their colleagues e.g drug abuse

Professional Development and Continuous Learning:

  • The company encourages employees to pursue ongoing professional development and further education to enhance their skills and knowledge.

  • Employees are encouraged to share knowledge and best practices within the firm to foster a culture of learning and growth.

Conflict of Interest:

  • Employees must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may arise between their personal interests and those of the company or its clients.

  • Engaging in activities that could create a conflict of interest without prior disclosure may result in disciplinary action.

Use of Company Resources:

  • Company resources, including but not limited to equipment, software, and facilities, should be used responsibly and solely for business purposes.

  • Personal use of company resources should be minimal and in compliance with company policies.

  • Any misuse or unauthorized use of company resources will result in disciplinary action.

Environmental Responsibility:

  • The company is committed to minimizing its environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices in its operations and projects e.g minimization of printing

  • Employees are encouraged to incorporate environmentally friendly design principles into their work wherever possible.

Client Relations:

  • Employees shall strive to exceed client expectations through exceptional service, responsiveness, and quality of work.

  • Clear and transparent communication with clients regarding project progress, changes, and any potential issues is crucial.

Anti-discrimination policy:

  • Discrimination of any kind such as age, gender or ethnicity shall not be tolerated. Any such discrimination shall be met with disciplinary action

  • Employees are encouraged to report any cases of discrimination to the management for investigation and action.

Compliance with Laws and Regulations:

  • All employees must comply with relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards governing the Kenyan architecture industry both in their design solutions and professional conduct

  • Failure to comply with legal requirements may result in legal action against the individual


Amendment and Review:

  • This policy may be amended or updated as necessary by the management of the company.

  • Employees will be notified of any changes to the policy, and all updates will be communicated promptly.
