Our Story
Every practice begins with a vision. For Architecture by Cedar, that vision started with a simple belief—that thoughtful architecture has the power to shape how people live, work, and experience their environment.
Founded in 2012 by Kelvin Bwamu and Anne Bwamu, the firm began as a small home-based studio driven by passion, creativity, and the desire to deliver high quality designs to our clients. What started as a modest practice gradually evolved into a growing architectural consultancy serving clients across Kenya.
In 2014, the firm formally began active practice, working closely with homeowners and developers to translate their ideas into well-crafted spaces. As the portfolio expanded and the team grew, the practice moved from its home office to its first dedicated studio in Embakasi, Nairobi in 2019—a milestone that reflected the trust clients had placed in the firm.
By 2022, Architecture by Cedar had grown into a more established studio and relocated to Karen, Nairobi, where it continues to operate today. From this base, the firm has steadily built experience across residential and commercial architecture, developing a reputation for thoughtful design and collaborative project delivery.
Much of the firm’s growth has been shaped by its strong focus on residential architecture, where it has had the privilege of helping many clients realize one of life’s most meaningful milestones—building a home. Through strategic partnerships and a collaborative design approach, Architecture by Cedar continues to guide clients from the earliest idea through to the completion of spaces that are both functional and enduring.
Today, the practice remains grounded in the same values that inspired its beginnings: integrity, creativity, collaboration, and a belief that every project deserves thoughtful attention and purposeful design.
